About Dahlya

Dahlya creates strong, colourful works that reflect the vibrancy and diversity of the world, but also reflect her own energy, within the physical process of making. Philosophers, writers, and artists throughout the ages have sought transcendent refuge and spiritual enlightenment through scientific and creative investigations of nature. She is not attempting to imitate nature or pursue realism, but is more concerned with the spiritual and emotional state of color and form, line and texture, balance and harmony. Playing on the viewer’s visual memory bank and creative emotions, the imagery unfolds into narrative scenes that seem both familiar in form yet strange in their exaggerated illustrations. Dahlya currently works and lives in Houston, Texas.
